Chicas sera chicas

I havent blogged in a while but I just have to share my experience of a low key (not in quotations) night with 4 argentine girls. I went to my friend Alejandrina's apartment and 3 other of her friends were there (we go out every weekend all together). We ordered empanadas, each had a glass of wine, cigarettes and lots of talking. For some reason I am always amazed at how the dynamics between girlfriends are the same no matter where you are or what country you are in or what language you are speaking. I will explain some of their problems without naming names.

Numero 1: "C" has a boyfriend who lives in Greece (speaks perfect spanish though). C went to Greece to live with him for 2 months and for his work he travels around the world, specifically in South America (hence the spanish speaking). Her issue was that HE wanted HER to stay with HIS family in Greece for 2 months while he travels around brasil, peru, etc... She doesnt speak greek, she barely knows his family and she has no friends there. She's back in Argentina but she's totally in love and doesnt know what to do.

Numero 2: "D" is in love with 2 men. Her ex boyfriend who still loves her (and her him) and a new love who she is also infatuated with her (and vice versa). She doesnt know what to do and literally gets migrains when she thinks about it. She's completely distraught ("poor girl").

Numero 3: "M" likes this one boy that she met on her study abroad in France who lives here. When he texts her and emails her he is filled with sweet and loving words but when they are together... NOTHING. He invites her up to his apartment... they sit and watch TV completely distant from eachother and then at 10:30... quite early... he tells her he has to study and she leaves. What to do, what to do.

Numero 4: "G": Is a 27 year old virgin... enough said.

Numero 5: "R", who wasnt there, is in love with a guy (dirtbag) who cheated on her with her cousin a few years ago. I also found out that he has hit her and does lots of drugs, etc... They discussed her lack of self esteem and that all 3 of them (R, the cousin and the guy) are all just plain loco.

Numero 6: well, thats me and I wont publicize my love issues... sorry.

Well, my point is, is that although everyone was spilling their hearts with their issues, some serious, some not... inside I was beyond myself (happy) sitting with these girls who could just as well be my group of girls from home. Stylish, funny, all gorgeous... and I was feeling so lucky that I was experiencing it here.

OH! Tomorrow I have my final spanish exam and for the oral part of the test I have to have a dialogue giving someone advice (just like I was doing tonight)... IRONY FREAKING KILLS ME SOMETIMES!
